Indy Jazz Fest 2018
(English version below)
El primer evento presentó a: B. B. King, Isaac Hayes, Chaka Khan, Sonny Rollins, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Branford Marsalis, George Benson, Chris Isaak y Freddie Hubbard, Slide Hampton, David Baker, Buddy Montgomery y Jimmy Coe.

Indy Jazz Fest 2018 - English version
These last couple of weeks days we have been writing about the Indy Jazz Fest as Jazz en Dominicana received the invitation to participate and in turn take the Oscar Micheli Trio to play in at this year’s fest. What is the Indy Jazz Fest? This Jazz festival that was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1999, created by a downtown group of hospitality, civic and business individuals as a way to highlight the rich jazz heritage of Indianapolis through an event annual. The idea was to have a weekend tourist event that was related to the arts, unlike the many sporting events that take place every year in the city such as the Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard 400 and an occasional NCAA championship or a Super Bowl.
The first event featured the likes of: B. B. King, Isaac Hayes, Chaka Khan, Sonny Rollins, Branford Marsalis, George Benson, Chris Isaak and Freddie Hubbard, and Slide Hampton, amongst others. An attendance of more than 55,000 was calculated, among participants from 35 states and seven countries.
Several years later the rights were purchased by J. Allan Hall, Rob Dixon, who are involved in the Owl Records label and David Allee, owner of The Jazz Kitchen. The new owners reinvented the Indy Jazz Fest as a nonprofit organization and began to formulate and implement educational outreach initiatives throughout the Indianapolis Public Schools. Children from all walks of life have been exposed to jazz and other musical genres because of Indy Jazz Fest's work in the community.
